Ivan ,The Travel Leader

It's with great pleasure that I present myself and my career background to all concerned in view of my forthcoming 57 th anniversary of service inthe tourism business in Sri Lanka. My first Job being Traffic Officer in Air Ceylon, the then NATIONAL FLAG CAREER AIRLINEback in November 1965 at the age of 20. It was about this time the CEYLON TOURIST BOARD was inaugurated. Thus I had the unique privilege of starting my career with the beginning of tourism in Sri Lanka. My career continued with positions given below;
  • Restaurant Manager
  • Hotel MANAGER
  • Supervisor of Rest Houses under government control.
  • Chauffeur GUIDE
  • National Guide LECTURER-French Speaking
Not only was I in big demand as a French Speaking Guide of quality with the reputed travel Firms of Sri LANKA; but I also had the privilege of being recommended by the renown French guide Book'Le Guide Du Routard' in their edition of 1986. Due to the fact that I have already worked for nearly 57 years I 'm now starting to feel theadvent of retiring age.

My two sons are now handling part of my work and in the future they will hopefullybe able to handle some of the requests. If it's the will of the lord I might be able to work three more years as GUIDEworking occasionally(my health permitting).

I’m the youngest son of Ivan de Silva, Since my childhood I’ve always had great enthusiasm for tourism thanks to my father’s background.
At the beginning of year 2000 I started my carrier helping my father handling his business via email, after a few years I’d been touring with my father ,in 2004 my father gave me some opportunities to learn tourism with the backpackers ,because he wanted me to learn the French language
I continued like that for a few years, and then in May 2009 the country was at peace.
We had developed our trade and lots of tourists started to visit here.
I’ve been working as a French speaking guide for 15 years already, and I’ve started a firm called Ceylan travel leaders as a tour operator.
So we have a very clean background and have never given up, even during periods of war. We know what the travelers are looking for and we hope we have a good experience handling and organizing tours.

Thanks!
